CORE COURSES

Wilderness Medicine refers to providing medical care when access to definitive care, like an ambulance or hospital, is delayed by over an hour or more than a mile from a road. Wilderness Medicine applies to remote or rural settings without adequate rescue services, as well as urban city locations where advanced medical resources are unavailable. Wilderness Medicine emphasizes adapting to limited resources and making critical decisions in challenging conditions.

WFA

WILDERNESS FIRST AID

Entry-level first aid course for outdoor enthusiasts and trip leaders, offering basic training for short trips with family, friends, or groups. Meets American Camp Association guidelines.

2 days (16 hours)

WFR

WILDERNESS FIRST RESPONDER

The industry standard for professional outdoor guides, ski patrol, trip leaders, and those seeking advanced wilderness medical training for extended backcountry trips or expeditions.

8 – 9 days (72+ hours)

WEMT

WILDERNESS EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN

Our flagship program for current or aspiring medical professionals on fire, rescue, and ambulance crews, with a focus on rural and wilderness settings.
