Maine
SOLO Directions to our NH Campus
SOLO is located in Conway, New Hampshire, a border town with Maine on the east side of the White Mountains, about 1.5 hours north of Portsmouth, NH, and 3 hours north of Boston, MA.
FROM THE SOUTH (BOSTON) Take I-95 north to Rt. 16 (the Spaulding Turnpike, a toll road) in Portsmouth, NH, and follow Rt. 16 north to Conway. At the traffic light in the center of Conway Village, turn right (east) on Rt. 153. Follow Rt. 153 for three-tenths of a mile then bear right onto Tasker Hill Rd. In one mile, Tasker Hill turns right, becomes dirt, and goes uphill (look for the small SOLO sign at the bottom of the hill); follow Tasker Hill Rd. up the hill for several hundred yards: the student parking lot will be the first road on the right, the SOLO dormitory is the first building on the right above the student parking lot, and the driveway to the main SOLO complex is on the left directly opposite the dormitory. Depending on traffic in Boston, the duration of this trip varies from 2.5 to over 3 hours. There is regular bus service between Boston’s Logan Airport and Conway; click the link below.
FROM THE EAST (PORTLAND, MAINE) Take Rt. 302 north and west from Portland and into New Hampshire. At the first traffic light in New Hampshire, just west of the village of Center Conway, go straight onto Rt. 113. Within two miles, you will enter Conway Village. Go straight through the first traffic light, go 200 feet to a second traffic light, and turn left (east) onto Rt. 153. Now follow the directions above. The driving time from the Portland area is just under two hours.
FROM THE SOUTH AND WEST (CONCORD & MANCHESTER, NH) Take Rt. 93 north to Rt. 104 in New Hampton (Exit 23); take Rt. 104 east to Rt. 3 in Meredith, turn left (north) onto Rt. 3 and follow it for one mile into the center of Meredith village and the intersection with Rt. 25. Turn right (east) onto Rt. 25 and follow it until it intersects Rt. 16. Turn left (north) and follow Rt. 16 to Conway Village. Now follow the directions as from the south (Boston). Manchester is about two hours from Conway.
FROM THE NORTH AND WEST (VERMONT & MONTREAL) From Rt. 91, the main north-south road between Vermont and New Hampshire, take either Rt. 93 south at St. Johnsbury (if coming from Canada) or Rt. 302 east (if coming from central Vermont), to Littleton, NH. From Littleton, continue on Rt. 302 south, through Crawford Notch, to the village of North Conway (easily identified by its quaint shops and factory outlet stores). When Rt. 302 turns left (east) toward Maine, continue straight on Rt. 16 for three miles to Conway Village. Bear right (south) at the first traffic light in the village, in 200 feet turn left (east) at the second traffic light onto Rt. 153. Now follow the directions as from the south (Boston). Burlington, VT, and Montreal are both about three hours from Conway.
